Other than units 10-12 which have their own external front doors, entry to the flats is through common external doors leading to communal areas in which the entrance doors to the ‘internal’ flats are located. The external doors are operated by both key and remote release from the video entryphone system installed within each flat. Please remember that you are sharing this entrance with your neighbours and so you also share in the responsibility for the security of the communal areas.
If you are ‘buzzed’ by someone using the entryphone system at the main entrance you must ensure that the person is a bona fide visitor who either you are expecting or you wish to see. Under no circumstances must you let anyone else into the building. There have been cases of political canvassers and sales people, for example, being let in who have been knocking on all the internal doors. One of the purposes of the entryphone system is to prevent this. You can imagine that scenarios far worse than this could occur if you are not careful. Just as you would want your neighbours to be vigilant so must you be, please.
Visitors to your flat are your responsibility whilst they are anywhere on the premises (both in your flat and when using the communal areas – inside and outside) and you must ensure that you show them out of the building at the end of their visit. If you believe that uninvited people have gained entry to the building then you should call the police. The security and safety of your neighbours cannot be compromised.
When using the common external door to enter or leave the building, please make sure that the door closes or is closed properly after you. There have been cases in the past when this has not happened. Please do not wedge the door open or try to leave it unsecured to make life more convenient for you whilst in your flat as this will affect the security of your neighbours.
