Use of the car park

 Car Park

There is very limited space for car parking and no room for expansion.   The lease agreement for each of the 15 flats that make up Augustus Court includes the right of the leaseholder to use one and one only designated parking bay within the car park in front of the building.   Each bay shows the number of the flat to which it is assigned.  No parking space can be sold as a separate entity – it is an integral part of a flat’s leasehold. If you are a tenant please check whether your agreement with your landlord includes usage of the assigned parking bay or not.

Please ensure you park your vehicle considerately for other users and within the white lines so that you do not block their entrance or exit.   You should not use a space allocated to another flat unless you have agreed some form of arrangement on a private basis with the associated owner of that space.   Any such arrangement does not give you a permanent right to the use of that owner’s space - only until that arrangement is terminated by the owner or the flat to which it is assigned has been sold or re-let.   If you find yourself having to use another bay on a very short-term, temporary basis (for example, for maybe a couple of hours) then please have the courtesy to place a note to this effect with your flat number and mobile telephone number showing visibly on it through your vehicle’s windscreen.   The owner of that bay (or associated tenant) will have the right to request you to remove your vehicle should it be inconvenient to him/her.

There are no designated bays for visitors as there is no additional space to allow for this.   Any visitors to your flat must either use your parking bay or park off-site nearby.   No vehicle may be parked in any bay unless the driver is associated with the occupant of the flat to which the bay is assigned.   If you see anyone parking who you believe has no association with anyone living in Augustus Court, please do challenge them.   All vehicles in the car park must have either a valid and current tax registration or, if not being used for a long period, a valid and current SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) notice issued by the DVLA (www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn).   However, in all cases, even if a SORN is in use, and being a shared car park, the vehicle must also be covered by valid and current third party insurance as a minimum.

The unmarked area directly outside the entrance to Flats 1-9 is not a designated parking area.  It should only be used as a temporary measure such as for loading/unloading vehicles, parking for emergency service vehicles like the police and ambulance (if they have been called by a resident), courier deliveries and day-time visits by utility or repair engineers and authorised personnel performing services on behalf of Termstake, the management company.   Please remember that this area is adjacent to the bedrooms of Flat 1 and late night usage will likely disturb the occupants.
